I can explain something I’ve built for an hour if somebody asks me about it.

Architecture. Bad decisions. What I would change. The bug that consumed Thursday. Why something exists. Why one part is still ugly. What I think is actually clever and what only looks clever because I have stared at it too long.

Apparently the impossible sentence is:

I made this. You should look at it.

I don’t entirely know why.

Part of it is probably introversion. Part of it is lack of practice. Part of it is the strange feeling that putting something in front of people means asking for attention, and attention should somehow be justified before I ask for it.

Which creates a lovely little deadlock:

Nobody knows about the thing because I haven’t shown it.

I don’t feel justified showing it because nobody knows about the thing.

Very efficient system.
